Mike Jourard’s interest in film making was sparked at an early age, when his grade eight teacher showed his class the films of Norman McLaren. Observing Mike’s passion for the craft, his parents nurtured his interest by borrowing 16 mm movies from the local library and holding family movie nights in the living room.

Mike went on to study film production at York University in the late 1970s. Unfortunately, he had to leave his film studies after two years and get a “Day Job”, which ultimately led to a successful 45-year career in Information Technology.

Mike relocated to Kingston, Ontario in November 2021, subsequently retiring from his “Day Job”. Attending the 2024 Kingston Canadian Film Festival rekindled his lifelong interest in pursuing film making. Mike incorporated his production company – 50 Year Dream Productions Inc. – in July 2024, and produced his first film later that year.
